Soon we will be adding Fishing interactive opportunities to this Network!

Posted by Gary O. Grimm on April 22, 2011 at 10:41am 0 Comments

We are building a new web site for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Fisheries operation and plan to incorporate interactive opportunities for members to post photos, stories, etc., about their fishing experiences into this network.

Log in to this site often to see the changes as they occur.

And please feel free to add comments, photos, or stories of your own.

Water Quality Education- Natchez Summer School

Posted by Fannie Ely on July 20, 2010 at 12:34pm 1 Comment

Last Friday, had the kids from Natchez Summer School came down to the river near Numana Wetlands to learn more about water quality. We talked about the importance of having good water quality and discussed some of our monitoring activities, which include collecting macroinvertebrate samples. We had the kids wade in the river and test the pH of the water using pH strips and look for bugs under rocks. On a day where the temperature was 95°, wading in the river was fun for all. We definitely had… Continue

Questions, raves, or rants about your field equipment?

On June 28 the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe had several YSI representatives give a

training session on calibration and maintenance of YSI 6-series sondes

and sensors. Several organizations and Tribes participated in the

training. Many questions were asked regarding problems people were

having in the field, and the YSI reps were very informative and

helpful.

Do any of you have questions, raves, or rants about your field equipment? Visit the Forum section and let's… Continue

A Country with ADD

Posted by Nancy Vucinich on June 15, 2010 at 11:00am 0 Comments

We’re a country with a very serious case of attention deficit disorder. Michael Jackson’s dead and most people don’t much care anymore. Oil’s been shooting from the bowels of the Gulf at a rate of 5,000…12,000…19,000…50,000(?) barrels a day for 54 days. We can’t afford to forget about this. My fear is that many have already forgotten or no longer care.

But this oil in the Gulf is more than an incident. It’s a really hard slap in the face that’s got to wake us all up from a century of… Continue

Welcome to this new customizable interest sharing network.

Two new Pyramid Lake web sites have been developed that include this unique and customizable "Place Based Social & Interest Networking project" made available by the Ning.com Platform.

Pyramid Lake Water Quality Monitoring Program

Pyramid Lake Fisheries web site

This is a flexible network design that provides a way for all of us - kids, families, grandparents, students, teachers, organizations, scientists and administrators - to discuss and collaborate in the collection and publication of community information and data about water quality related issues. Personal stories, photographs, video, scientific data such as GIS, and suggested links to other web site information are some possibilities. Some of this information may also be added to the Water Quality and Fisheries web sites noted above over time.

GeoWeb Maps - The collaborative Google Map below has been started to share knowledge about how to use Google Maps and Google Earth. The "New Maps" tab on the top menu will provide options to experiment and learn how to create many new and personalized maps for school or community projects.

A few placemarks have been added to the map below to begin to highlight some of the exciting features that are built into Google Maps and Google Earth and links to other existing maps or web site information. This is just an experimental map for now. It might be moved to the "New Maps" section in the future.
